Welcome to The Disability Company
About DisabilityCo | Our Story, Mission, and Vision
Care should be genuine, personal, and life-changing.
A Mission & Vision Rooted in Genuine Care
At DisabilityCo, our mission is clear: to be the #1 NDIS-registered care provider in Melbourne, then expand to become the leading provider Australia-wide.
We are committed to empowering individuals through genuine, tailored, and life-changing support.
Our vision is to foster a world where people with disabilities live with independence, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging. We see a future where quality care isn’t just expected—it’s the standard. At DisabilityCo, our mission is simple yet profound: to empower individuals through genuine, tailored, and life-changing support. We believe that care should be more than just a service—it should be a relationship built on trust, respect, and shared aspirations.
The Journey That Sparked a Movement
Our story began with a single support worker’s experience—our founder, Dylan Maliepaard. Working firsthand in the disability sector, Dylan saw a system where support often felt impersonal and transactional. Too many participants and their families felt unheard, and too many support workers felt like just another number in a system.
The turning point came when Dylan was supporting Bryce and his family. Bryce’s mother, Chrissy, voiced her frustrations about the lack of genuine, high-quality care:
“Why don’t you start your own company? There’s a real need for genuine, quality care.”
And that’s exactly what Dylan did.
A Conscious Choice to Set a New Standard
Since the company’s inception in 2018, DisabilityCo made a deliberate choice to be an NDIS-registered provider—not because it was the easy path,
but because it was the right one.
We saw an industry where some providers prioritised profits over people, and we knew we wanted to do things differently.
✨ We chose quality over shortcuts.
🔍 We chose transparency over convenience.
🤝 We chose to treat not just our clients, but our support workers, with holistic respect.
At DisabilityCo, our goal wasn’t just to meet industry standards—it was to raise them.
💙 NDIS participants deserve the highest quality care.
👩⚕️ Support workers should feel valued, supported, and empowered.
🏡 The right support can transform lives, build confidence, and create a true sense of belonging.
This isn’t just our business model—it’s our commitment to every person we support.
Dylan, our Founder, sits down with us to share how The Disability Company started and what quality care should look like.
Our Approach: Tailored, Inclusive, Community-Based
We believe care works best when it’s collaborative and personalised. Our approach:

Person-Centred
Participants are active partners in their care journey

Community-Focused
We foster connections that enrich lives beyond support sessions

Support Worker Empowerment
Valued, supported workers provide the best care.
Challenges, Lessons, and Growth
Starting DisabilityCo wasn’t easy. In the beginning, Dylan ran the business from his home, dedicating countless hours to research and learning—immersing himself in NDIS regulations, The Disability Act, clinical care models, and advocacy rights. He was determined to create an organisation that prioritised real, meaningful support.
But challenges came quickly:

Navigating the NDIS framework and ensuring participants got the funding they needed.

Building a team of compassionate, skilled support workers who shared the same values

Creating a service model that wasn’t just about compliance, but about real impact
Each challenge taught us something valuable, and each lesson shaped the foundation of DisabilityCo’s tailored and inclusive approach to care. We learned that the best support happens when both participants and support workers feel valued and empowered.
