Frequently Asked Questions

The number of hours you receive depends on client demand, your availability, and the type of shifts required. Some support workers have consistent shifts with regular clients, while others work more casually based on availability. There’s flexibility in the roster, and we work to match shifts with your preferred hours.

Shifts are assigned based on client needs, worker availability, and suitability for the role. We use a rostering system to allocate shifts, and support workers can view and accept available shifts through the platform. We will also call or text you shift offers to ensure you have the opportunity to pick up work that suits your schedule. Some shifts are ongoing, while others may be short-term or one-off based on respite or community support needs.

Our clients are individuals with disabilities who have varying support needs. Some require assistance with daily living tasks such as personal care and meal preparation, while others need support to access the community, attend appointments, or participate in recreational activities. Each client has unique goals and interests, and we focus on providing person-centered care that aligns with their preferences.

A typical day as a support worker varies based on the client’s needs. It may include:

  • Assisting with personal care (showering, dressing, hygiene)
  • Meal preparation and household tasks
  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Supporting clients in community activities (shopping, social outings, recreational events)
  • Transporting clients to appointments
  • Assisting with skill development and independence
  • Completing shift notes and reporting any concerns

While formal qualifications (such as a Certificate III or IV in Individual Support or Disability) can be beneficial, they are not always required. However, experience in disability support, aged care, or a related field is highly regarded. Essential requirements include completing the NDIS Worker Screening Check, holding a valid First Aid and CPR certification, and having a driver’s license (if transport is required).

You can apply for the NDIS Worker Screening Check online through Victorian Government Services Online | Service Victoria . The process involves:

  • Applying online through your state or territory’s screening unit.
  • Providing identification and necessary documents.
  • Paying the application fee.
  • Waiting for the screening process to be completed (processing times may vary).
This check is mandatory to work with NDIS participants and ensures the safety of clients receiving support.
